Job description
Brasserie Le Pois Penché, a renowned French brasserie located in the heart of Montreal’s Golden Square Mile, is seeking a seasoned and dedicated Maître d’Hôtel to join our leadership team on a full-time basis.
We are a hospitality-focused, high-volume restaurant offering refined, classical French cuisine and attentive service in an elegant and lively setting. The Maître d’Hôtel plays a pivotal role in orchestrating service, managing the floor, and ensuring an elevated guest experience, while also mentoring and guiding the front-of-house team.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise, coordinate, and lead front-of-house operations during service

Actively manage the dining room, adjusting in real time to service demands and guest flow

Provide continuous direction, guidance, and leadership to the service team throughout each shift

Actively participate in service while overseeing it, ensuring fluid communication and execution

Perform and oversee refined tableside service including fish filleting, meat carving, flambéed desserts, and professional wine service

Greet and seat guests with poise and professionalism, establishing rapport and ensuring satisfaction

Manage reservations and floor plans to maximize efficiency and guest experience

Provide hands-on training and daily coaching to staff, reinforcing standards of service and hospitality

Address guest concerns or special requests with discretion, empathy, and prompt resolution

Collaborate closely with the kitchen, bar, and management to ensure seamless operations

Contribute to the achievement of sales targets and continuous team development

Uphold and reinforce the restaurant’s standards of service, conduct, and presentation

Be willing and able to take on a small section of tables when necessary to support the team and ensure smooth service
Requirements
Qualifications

Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a similar leadership role within fine dining or upscale casual environments

Proven ability to lead by example and inspire excellence in others

Strong decision-making skills and adaptability under pressure

Deep knowledge of classic service techniques and French culinary tradition

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
-
Fully bilingual (French and English)

Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Familiarity with OpenTable and modern POS systems is considered an asset
